After securing power in Cuba, we are told of Fidel's adventurism first into Latin America (Panama and the Dominican Republic as early as 1959) and then Africa. This is totally wish-fulfillment historical chick lit (and I do NOT mean the sex scenes here, but the adventure part), and although I've seen it get some pretty bad press, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I am pretty choosy about books. They are very well-written, the characters are rich and realistic (even if they are under a foot tall. You can understand why (friendship) however it entails more lies and deception.
